Fr. Henry Mills was ordained a priest in the Archdiocese of New York. Fr. Mills was accused in a 1997 lawsuit of sexually abusing a minor boy beginning in approximately 1992. It is alleged that Fr. Mills sexually abused him during a counseling session at Christ the King in Bronx, New York, and at St. Joseph of the Holy Family in Harlem, New York. Fr. Mills counter-sued his accuser in 1998. It is reported that Fr. Mills received a psychological evaluation and was stripped of official pastoral functions that would put him in contact with minors, however he was allegedly still allowed to participate in Mass and teach on occasion. Fr. Mills was removed from ministry and laicized in 2002. Fr. Mills is named on the Archdiocese of New York’s 2019 “List of Archdiocesan Clergy Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor or the Subject of Eligible IRCP Compensation Claims” under the subsection “[t]he following archdiocesan clergy have been credibly accused of sexual abuse of a minor.” Fr. Mills’ current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown.
