This video is a close view, step by step demonstration of open appendectomy.
this is a surgical procedure done for treating acute appendictitis.
Steps of the procedure are as follows;
1. Anesthesia, which may be general, spinal or even the procedure can be done under local anesthesia.
2. scrubbing and drapping of the patient.
3. incision at the Mc'burney's point.
4. Splitting of subcutaneous tissue with arteriostat.
5. Incision at the external oblique aponeurosis, along the skin incision.
6. splitting if internal and transversus abdominus fibres.
7. Peritonium held in arteriostats and cut with scissors.
8. Caecum found and appendix, (attached at its lowest point) held with bebcock forceps.
9. Mesoappendix and base of appendix tied, the mesoappendix cut with scissors and appendix cut with knife.
10.Abdomen closed in reverse order.
