God put us here and we need to function to the best of our ability. It's important to train and prepare and do what we can to be ready to handle whatever challenges or crisis may come our way. We are all hit with this. No one escapes every crisis. Some are bigger and more challenging than others.

The point is that we have a responsibility to not only care for our own lives in this world but we also have a duty to care for others. That takes a certain degree of training and preparing.
