I was inspired to do this challenge because, in a previous episode where I talked about why I live as a student minimalist as well as a financial minimalist, I had people asking me "how does a student minimalist shop on a budget?" Be sure to watch that video if you haven't seen it already :)
Why I'm A Student Minimalist
So is it possible to shop for a winter wardrobe, with just $20? We went to two thrift shops. We went to Goodwill and then we went to another thrift shop, it's a local one, it was called OMG Thrift. Shopping at thrift stores is so beneficial for multiple reasons, the biggest is that they are inexpensive, it is fun and an adventure, it holds a lot of clout, and it reduces your carbon footprint.
We were very happy with the two shirts that both of us bought but were disappointed that we weren't able to get more with our $20 budget. Overall though, this goes to show that you don't have to have a lot of money to shop for fashionable clothes.
Michael shares his easy tips for shopping while living on a budget. He says that we should be signing up for email and text subscriber lists because there are a lot of discounts given there. Also download coupon browser extensions, like Honey, that just gives you deals at the current point like what you're looking at.
He says that people discount stores like Walmart, but sometimes it's low-quality clothing that is high quality. He also suggested going thrifting and hitting multiple thrift stores in one day so you can see a lot of options.
