African Women’s land security guidelines .... Continued

Hirut Girma (PhD), Land and Gender Expert at the UN Economic Commission for Africa’s Land Policy Initiative, says her office will soon be embarking on preparation of a guideline that aims to strengthen women’s land tenure security in African countries.


Speaking to H Journalist I Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire at the sidelines of the 2019 Conference on Land Policy, she stated that once funding is secured for preparing the guideline, it will be finalized and ready for the upcoming meeting in two years’ time.


The next step will be piloting the guideline in selected countries to make test that it brings the desired outcomes, according to Dr. Hirut.
