Hundreds of meteors are expected to paint the skies above Mathias, West Virginia on Friday, November 22 (Thursday, November 21 local) in a rare event known as “unicorn” meteor shower.
This particular shower happens once every year, but typically only a couple of meteors can be seen. This year, however, scientist predict that the comet trail dust from which the meteors originate will get extra close to Earth's orbit, filling up the night sky with approximately 400 meteors near the Unicorn constellation.
The storm has been calculated to begin around 04:50 GMT and it will likely only last for 40 minutes, with the peak lasting for about 15 minutes.
