When I first visited The Crater of Diamonds State Park, I was impressed with the collection of old diamond recovery equipment that sat at the edge of the diamond search field. To me it made the statement that serious, commercial, diamond recovery efforts were made there in the past. Now, the state park has moved a vital piece of equipment, the antique flywheel, out of the weeds and added it to the collection of old mining equipment for everyone to see.
