PT Pindad's Head of Product Development Windu Paramarta said that currently only two companies from Indonesia and South Korea had passed the next stage, Pindad and Doosan.

"Pindad is competing against South Korean manufacturers with Doosan, where the Philippines is in need of its main canon vehicles," Wndu told Anadolu Agency.

Pindad offers combat vehicle packages worth USD 171 million or around Rp 2 trillion including the Tiger Medium Tank, Panzer 6x6 90 mm canon or rhino, Windu said.

While South Korean companies offer K21 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV).

Windu believes Tiger Medium Tank is superior to the K21 tank offered by South Korea.

"The specifications [Medium Tiger Tank] are specific, specific to the regional regions in Southeast Asia, namely forestry, dense urban areas and in the event of war, these tanks are specifically designed to deal with such situations," he added.

The Philippines will buy the Tiger Medium Tank which is the main tool of Indonesia's defense system (defense equipment) in collaboration with Turkey.

President Joko Widodo said that the purchase process is still in the auction process.
