Coronavirus I Over one-hundred South Africans to be evacuated from China A joint operation by the Health, Defence and International Relations Departments will see the evacuation of more than one-hundred South African citizens from China. They are expected to be back in the country tomorrow. This after President Cyril Ramaphosa said the 132 expatriates living in Wuhan City - the epicentre of the coronavirus - should be evacuated.
At the same time, two South Africans tested positive for COVID-19 after working on a Japanese cruise ship.
Ten others are still on board the Diamond Princess ship, docked in the port of Yokohama.
There have been 700 cases and four deaths on the quarantined cruise.
