China: See security checks at near-deserted Shanghai airport

A major aviation hub of East Asia, the Shanghai Pudong International airport hall, which connects the Chinese city with different destinations via mainly international flights, could be seen almost deserted without any trace of the usual crowds on Friday amid coronavirus (COVID-19) fears.

Footage shows near-empty security checkpoints, where guards hurry passengers to continue faster through boarding gates at which signs stand reading: "Please, queue up to measure body temperature."

According to the latest reports from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), at least 83,000 people have been infected with COVID-19 and more than 2,800 people have died worldwide.
