Navajo Historian, Wally Brown, teaches about Ké. Traditional teachings paint a picture and tell a story of many different groups of people who came together to make Diné. These groups each made up a clan family. The Clan family has different aspects that give it its identity. A mascot or pet, clan name and a totem. These clues are all there is to let us know where the different clans came from.
Some of these clans could have come from far away to join the Diné.
These clan relationships were so tight that it discouraged people from harboring contention toward one another.
