Chief scientist made ‘fascinating’ assessment of Australia’s energy pathway

Chief scientist made ‘fascinating’ assessment of Australia’s energy pathway Sky News host Chris Kenny says Australia’s Chief Scientist Dr Alan Finkel presented a “fascinating” and “insightful” assessment of Australia’s energy needs now and into the future.

Talking at the National Press Club on Wednesday, Dr Finkel renewed calls for Australia to focus on the production of hydrogen as a viable energy source for the future.

“Today … he was realistic about the economic and engineering task of cutting emissions in the energy sector by switching to renewables," Mr Kenny said.

“Again he explained the obvious, it'll take decades because it's impossible now, wind and solar are intermittent and we can't store enough of their power at reasonable cost".
