Ultimate comfort food any day is a bowl of hot Rice & dal with a dollop of ghee. Keerai Paruppu/Spinach dal is one such simple recipe with spinach leaves. It’s packed with protein, healthy and you’ll appreciate preparing it due to the fact it’s so easy & quick that anybody can cook it without going wrong. Keerai Paruppu is one such dish that is the most in-demand comforting and satisfying meals.

Paruppu Keerai / Keerai Paruppu – a warm and hearty south Indian stew; a pressure cooker masoor dal (red lentils) and spinach curry with simple aromatics; pairs well with rice or any Indian flat bread!
It is well known for its nutritional qualities and has always been regarded as a plant with remarkable abilities to restore energy, increase vitality and improve the quality of the blood. Lentils are loved by vegetarians and vegans because they are a great high-protein food, are rich in nutrients and have a hearty, dense texture. Hence, they are a great way to dial up the protein in your diet without breaking the bank — they are the most affordable vegetarian protein sources for many who follow a vegetarian diet.Lentils cooked with greens is a very good combination. If you manage to make it at least once a week, you are able to have very simple and nutritious meal.

Spinach dal can me made using lot of lentils. Like you can make it with masoor dal (red lentils) or with chana dal. This recipe is very simple and does not use several spices like most Indian recipes. Dal is a generic term used in India to describe all dry legumes/lentils. It’s a complete comfort food and a good source of protein. We can have dal in every meal. This dal is super easy to make and completely doable on a weekday.

It’s a very forgiving and versatile recipe, add or subtract ingredients to your liking. I prefer my dal to be on a thicker side but feel free to adjust the consistency as per your preference.
