Interpreting Dreams - Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq

Interpreting Dreams - Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq An excerpt from the talk, 'The Prophet's ﷺ Love & Concern for his Ummah'
Delivered by Shaykh Riyadh ul Haq on Friday 15th December 2017 at Al Kawthar Academy, Leicester (UK)

Full talk:

Many people become distracted by dreams they have had, often unable to rest until they have had a satisfactory interpretation of that dream. The truth is many of us see dreams; both good and bad, familiar and strange, pleasing and displeasing - but more often than not the interpretation for these dreams cannot be found.

Abdullah ibn Umar r.a, the son of Umar ibn al-Khattab, was one who would sleep in the Masjid of the Prophet ﷺ and would often pray to Allah to be shown a good dream so that he may relate it to the Prophet ﷺ. Eventually he witnessed a lengthy, magnificent dream which involved angels taking him on a personal tour. Upon hearing about this dream the Prophet ﷺ gave no interpretation and rather commented, "Abdullah is a good man, if only he would pray at night." Despite the piety, commitment and location of Abdullah ibn Umar r.a he was given no interpretation to his dream and rather was told to focus more on his worship. How then can we compare our dreams to that of Abdullah ibn Umar's r.a?

Find out in this excerpt how the dream of a beloved companion of the Prophet ﷺ was treated and what advice the Prophet ﷺ gave him.
