Here comes the point where we exasperate with some
travelers.
Okay, we understand that not everyone likes to plan their trip,
and they feel they are freer arriving in a country with nothing
in mind and see what they find.
But did you know? More than one thinks that Bali is a country,
and they learn that they arrived in Indonesia when they get on
the plane and give him the boarding pass.
Bali is a tourist destination by itself, which grew to the point of eclipsing its own country and not depending on anyone. Let’s say, no matter how grown the baby is, she still has a father.
Ah, you were one of those who did not know. Do not worry; we will not tell anyone.
1. Entry with menstruation is prohibited.
We were surprised to see the sign indicating that women during
menstruation are prohibited from entering all temples.
According to the Hindu belief of the Balinese, the bad gods feed
on the blood.
Because of this, women on menstruation are not allowed entry.
2 . Being left-handed is a bad thing.
Being left-handed in Bali is frowned upon.
When a baby is born, its placenta is caught with the right hand to
prevent the child from being left-handed.
Normally, you try to force children when they start using their left
hands so that they are not left-handed.
3. Tanah Lot is not recommended for couples
According to popular belief, all the local couples who go to the
Tanah Lot without being married will break their relationship.
Luckily (or bad luck) for tourists is not so.
4. Cockfights rituals
Cockfighting is performed as a ritual so that the bad gods feed
on the spilled blood of the animals and thus do not get angry.
These rituals are legal; what is illegal are fights with bets in
which a large amount of money moves.
As we were told, more and more money is being bet on these
acts since many people in Bali sold their land to foreigners for
a large amount of money.
A large number of motorcycles parked all together indicate that
there is a cockfight nearby.
5. Date to die.
Each person has a date for his death to have a place in the other world.
If you die before that date, you have no place in the other world
(check-in is not so early).
Therefore, your soul is in the air, so family members usually put clothes
and other things in the trees so that the soul has a place to be in the
shade and can use those offerings.
6. Beware of the Forigner Prices.
Just because you are a foreigner, they already think you are dumb.
This usually happens in all countries, but here, it is more worse.
Wherever you go, they will charge you a commission because they
feel like it or they will raise the price of the service.
7. People speak near no English outside of Bali.
Outside of Bali, there are very few people who can say some words
in English.
You will spend at least the first days of your trip to learn the basics
of Indonesian Bahasa to communicate better.
Indonesians are proud to say that their language as the easiest language
in the world to learn. To some extent, we could prove it.
