Coil performed "Amethyst Deceivers" at 32 (if not 33) of their shows, out of 50, making it their most performed song. It went through multiple dramatic evolutions. The only performance not available is 2002-09-26 Tochka, and possibly 2002-10-19 Stockholm, if the song was indeed performed at that show. Enjoy!

Bill Breeze played violin at Sonar. Tom Edwards played marimba from Persistence is All onward. John Balance implemented a vocalizer from Antwerp onward. Ossian Brown did not perform with Coil at New York or Moscow. Thighpaulsandra played a theremin at Moscow. A proper studio version has never been released.

Version 2 most closely resembles the Autumn Equinox/Moon's Milk version. Mike York left Coil after Barbican. John Balance sang lyrics from "Something" from Hamburg to Barbican; he'd improvise new lyrics at Den Haag and Dour. Thighpaulsandra played piano at Den Haag and Dour. Peter played piano at Fano. The band jams for several minutes at the end of Dour, making it the longest version of the song ever performed.
My favorite versions: Ghent, Bologna, Berlin, Den Haag, and Dour.

Version 3 most closely resembles "The Last Amethyst Deceiver" on The Ape of Naples. John Balance significantly improvises lyrics for these performances, including a lengthy introductory monologue at Lodz. Peter opens the song with the percussion track from Konigsberg to Helsinki, the synth melody at Gdansk, and the bass track from Lodz to Vienna.
My favorite versions: Konigsberg, Copenhagen, Gdansk, and Lodz.

Most closely resembles version 1, given Tom Edwards' marimba, but Peter added new backing audio tracks. A proper studio version has never been released.
The best of all of these are NYC, Berlin, Gdansk, and Jesi, but my overall favorite version of the song ever performed is Berlin.
