Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways In this program we see another of West Coast Railway's stalwarts in David Smith's ex LMS Royal Scot 46115 Scots Guardsman as we see the scot hauling the final Santa Special of the year over Shap to Carlisle from Lancaster.
The weather was on & off during the day & with strong winds lineside filming was impossible so filming the scot in stations was the agender for the day.
We start at Penrith North Lakes as we see the Scot whistling through on the last part of the outward leg of The Santa Special to Carlisle.
With 46115 getting serviced outside Carlisle gave me a chance to get into Carlisle station 1st before 47746 Chris Fudge brough the train in from Upperby triangle.
We return to Penrith for the return run & 46115 Scots Guardsman racing through in fine fettle with 13 coaches & 47746 Chris Fudge in tow.
We end at Oxenholme Lake District after overtaking the scot at Grayrigg which this film bit was possible.
We end with the scot passing with on the last leg into Lancaster.
