Content caching at the edge - Leveraging remote bare-metal instances for distributing content

Content caching at the edge - Leveraging remote bare-metal instances for distributing content By leveraging OpenStack's Tripleo, Placement API, Availability Zones, Neutron and Ironic, you can provision and manage edge compute nodes over routed L3 networks via the CDC control plane.
What's more is you can use an edge compute host as a bastion into the edge network for deploying workloads as bare-metal instances, where performance is crucial, such as video caching and streaming.
In this talk we'll discuss:
-- Adding a distributed compute node (DCN) to an existing OpenStack deployment - Discovery, introspection and instantiation of a DCN over a routed L3 network.
-- Instantiate a bare-metal instance at the edge.
-- Demo a sample video caching application on a bare-metal instance to showing the advantages of moving resources closer to the consumer, greatly reducing back-haul.
-- Leverages a latency simulation framework between the central data center and edge nodes to model real world conditions in the lab.
