Trends in Artificial Intelligence: Leveraging massive amounts of data to inform automation AI Practicalities: When the hype is set aside, the current trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI) are about leveraging massive amounts of data to inform automation. As AI projects move from proof of concept to production, the need to feed them a constant stream of high-volume, real-time data is growing. In 2020, a maturing AI market will begin to look beyond core algorithms and services to encompass the entire data pipeline.

Watch Seth Noble's video to learn about the challenges of very reliable communication of data:

One of the really interesting things about computing and the term computing itself, is that it’s inherently mathematical. It goes back to the days when computers were all about computation and arithmetic. But that’s not what we use computers for anymore. Computers are really all about automation and communication now.

And one of the things that we’re seeing as we move forward is more and more sophistication in how that automation works and what our expectations are of that automation. We’re putting more and more reliance on these systems to do the right thing and do it intelligently and do it in real time, often much faster than a human being can supervise it.

Doing that requires very reliable communication of a lot of data. And so, I think as we go forward and we see more and more systems becoming autonomous and more systems being relied upon to make critical infrastructure decisions and critical safety decisions, it’s going to be more important for that communication role to be secure, reliable and absolutely as fast as possible. And that’s really where a scalable, reliable technology like MTP/IP is going to only become more important as we go into the future.
