Tie Your Boots the Mountaineering Way

Tie Your Boots the Mountaineering Way Tying your boots using the mountaineering method provides a superior heel lock, helping you avoid blister-causing friction. Start by threading your boot laces normally, until you reach the hooks. Now cross your laces and wrap them three times around one another, pulling to tighten.

Without crossing the laces, pull each lace up to the next hook. Now cross the laces and once more wrap them around each other three times. Without crossing, pull each lace up behind both top hooks of either side. While holding tension, cross the laces and feed each end underneath the vertical lace trapped in the hooks. To finish, tie the laces using your preferred method. We prefer a double knot or a square knot.
