SHY FX, BROCKIE & MC DET - JUNGLE SET 1997 IN THE MIX - KOOL FM 94.5

SHY FX, BROCKIE & MC DET - JUNGLE SET 1997 IN THE MIX - KOOL FM 94.5 Artwork by Take Me Back Pirate Radio Archives. In 1993, at the age of 17, Shy FX made an impact as a Jungle producer releasing, “Jungle Love”, on the Permission To Dance label. It wasn’t until the year later when he gained underground and then commercial success of his classic hit track, “Original Nuttah” – Feat. UK Apache – on the SOUR (Sound Of The Underground Records) label. The year 1994 was a busy time for him which saw Shy release the infamous, “Gangsta Kid EP”, also on the SOUR label along with “Sounds Of The Beast EP”.
By 1995, Shy FX was in full flow with another productive array of classic tracks: “This Style” “Funkindemup”, “Nasty”, “Gangsta Kid II: The Final Chapter”, along with many anthems.
It was in 1996 that Shy took the rave scene by storm with his legendary tracks “Wolf”, “The Chopper (Remix)", “The Message” and his highly respected album “The Formula” all released on Ebony Records, which was Shy FX’s label.
In 1997, the year of this recording Shy FX produced another string of hits “Bambaata” as well as “Pandora’s Box”, on the Ebony Records. Note that Shy FX in this recording drops the most exclusive dub plates as well as his and Ebony Records fourth coming releases of the 1997 year. Shy FX had featured as DJ on many of the Jungle rave nights like Telepathy and Kool FM's, Jungle Fever. At the turn of the millennium Shy FX formed the Ebony Dubsters (Shy FX, T Power and Agent BLK) releasing underground hit tracks like, Ra - Ebony Dubs Vol. 2 (2002).
The formidable duo DJ Brockie and MC Det were the most talked about on the FM dial. Their Super Sunday night shows attracted scores of listeners across London city. Brockie’s selection was usually the most exclusive unreleased tracks of the era.
In 1991, Brockie joined Kool FM from their early days of broadcasting and he made a name for himself on that station. MC Det came from the school of Hardcore. He could host shows, but with the changing tide of MCing he adapted his style to encompass more lyrics and a faster flow and would rinse out sets from start to finish. There were very few rave nights at this point that didn't' book Brockie and Det. They were the most sought after of that era alongside the likes of Nicky Blackmarket and Stevie Hyper D (Rest In Peace).
That year Det and Skibadee teamed up on many radio sets and at raves. They would go on to form 2XFreestyle (Two Times Freestyle), recording and releasing the duo’s debut UK Hip Hop album, “New Style Avengers” and “Slowmo”. Producers, DJs and MCs from across the scene were getting notices mainstream music companies (sharks) and A&R’s were capitalising on this musical shift from underground to commercial.
Note that Shy FX capitalised on this aspect the most and went on to storm the commercial charts with "Shake Ur Body", "Roll The Dice" feat Lily Allen and Stamina MC (Raggamuffin SoundTape), Yasmin ft Shy FX & Ms Dynamite - 'Light Up (The World)' and scores successful commercial hits.
