The Nigerian government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the development of sporting activities which are teemed "lesser sports" in the country. Speaking at the preliminary briefing, in preparation for the arrival of president of the International Olympic Committee, IOC, Thomas Bach to Nigeria, minister of youth and sport, Sunday Dare added that the government will henceforth give priority to the development of sporting activities, which the nation can compete in.
Dare also stressed the need to bring private funding into sporting development in Nigeria.
The IOC chairman, who is on a tour to some African countries, is expected to arrive Nigeria after his visit to Cape Verde and Senegal.
