Dallas Cowboys film study this week focuses on the offense, the play-calling and how the Cowboys are limiting Dak Prescott. The Cowboys highlights vs. the Minnesota Vikings were frustrating, particularly in the last drive of the game. The game film reveals over-reliance on Zeke in the Cowboys play calling, letting the defense dictate the Cowboys offense, limiting Dak Prescott and overall, making things harder than they should be. Cowboys Report host Tom Downey picks 4 plays to break down from the 28-24 loss to the Vikings on Sunday Night Football. The Cowboys plays focus on the second to last drive, starting off with a pass play to Amari Cooper. For whatever reason, Dallas then went away from Cooper, choosing to run a read option, an RPO and an out route to Ezekiel Elliott with the game on the line. There’s plenty of blame to go around, with Dak Prescott only getting a little bit.
The best Cowboys news is that Dak Prescott is balling despite the cowboys play calling issues. He shredded the Vikings Defense and his plays with Amari Cooper are operating at an elite level. Simply put: Dak is the best part of the Cowboys offense.
However, in the second to last drive of the game, it was Ezekiel Elliott who got the receptions and touches. Zeke has become a crutch for Kellen Moore, Jason Garrett and the Cowboys offense and we saw that especially late in the game vs. the Vikings. Zeke finished the game with 20 carries for 47 yards and no touchdowns.
