Hospitality and generosity are strong elements of Arabic culture and these qualities can be observed in the customs of a traditional Arabic welcoming. This tradition is rooted in Bedouin culture, the desert nomads and earliest inhabitants of this region. Traversing the desert meant that Bedouin could go for days without coming in contact with other people. For Bedouin travellers exhausted after a long journey, arriving at a desert camp was a huge relief and they were traditionally welcomed very warmly. A traditional Arabic welcoming included rose water, coffee and dates.
