I'm publishing this video from the JKIA, Nairobi Kenya. I am headed to Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. So excited! We know Asiko is a living miracle. You can Google 'Asiko Jiggers' and you will be amazed how badly off she was. She remained with just a few days, may be hours. Her mother, Miriam, was not spared either. Her sister Joyce was in such bad shape. When one entered their jigger house, you got out with so many, clung on your feet and even as high as hands. Their home was a no go zone. Their father was depressed, and looked totally defeated. Theirs was the first house RUS cemented, and the cementing marked the turning point in their lives. Unfortunately, mom Miriam has not been well, suffering from a mental condition that drives her away from home. Their less than perfect dad is there, doing all he can to keep the family going. I used the word 'imperfect' because he needs to be complimented for the efforts. He has held his two girls close by, and Asiko doesn't seem to miss her mother at all. I have some reservations about the whole arrangement, but I am hopeful and trusting enough to know that God is in the details and nothing bad will happen to the girls.
Ava adopted Joyce when she saw RUS dishing out stuff to little Asiko as she looked on and got nothing. That's a mother's heart. She's sent both of them boxes upon others. Thank you mom Ava! I know you celebrated your birthday yesterday Nov 1st) and I am so sorry for not calling as I had promised. I was held up in preparations for this trip. But I sang you a happy song while at the salon. Thank you for bringing a huge smile on those precious girls' faces.
