Getting out and meeting people from the industry is important because the junior mining industry is all about people. Most of these mineral exploration companies are ran by a few people at their head office and 1-2 people promoting the company. So you’re really betting on that CEO to generate you value so it can be worthwhile meeting with management at a conference or calling the company directly. Meet other sophisticated professionals. Mineral exploration and the mining industry is such a complex business, it’s impossible to know everything, inherently making these investments risky. You want to meet geologists, engineers, lawyers, investment bankers, accountants, and brokers as they’ll likely know something you don’t.
Attending conferences is one of the best things you can do as a resource investor as you will have direct access to company management and can be selective with the companies you want to meet.
